The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Spain and the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, through Filmoteca Española and Filmoteca de Catalunya, are promoting the commemoration of the centenary of filmmaker and political activist Pere Portabella (Figueres, 1927). This international celebration carries forward Pere Portabella’s vital, political, and artistic message: a drive towards dialogue, courage, and the centrality of the avant-garde, together with his proverbial tenacity in generating consensus, provocation, movement, and transmission.
‘Acció Portabella’ brings together a series of initiatives throughout 2026 and 2027, originating from a wide range of institutions. Each participating organisation proposes its own distinctive strategy, guided by the central idea of “passing the baton”: an innovative way of understanding cultural programming in a time of collaboration and sustainability.
